STRIPE MCP SERVER
Connect Stripe to Andromity with the Stripe MCP server
Connect Stripe’s official MCP server to Andromity: call the Stripe API, search Stripe docs and plan integrations from your AI coding agent. Sandbox access, approvals and safety.

Stripe hosts an official MCP server at https://mcp.stripe.com. For a developer building a Stripe integration, it lets Andromity read real objects from a sandbox, look up the right API method and parameters, and search Stripe’s documentation while it writes the code.
You sign in with Stripe in your browser. On the consent page you choose which accounts and sandboxes the connection may use, with separate permissions for each.
What the agent can do with Stripe
- Find Stripe API methods and their parameters (stripe_api_search, stripe_api_details).
- Read Stripe objects with any GET request, and create or change them (stripe_api_read, stripe_api_write).
- Search Stripe documentation and support articles, and get integration guidance.
- Retrieve account information.
- Analytics and Treasury tools, which Stripe marks as preview.
Example prompts
Ask for the work in plain language. Naming the server helps, for example “use the Stripe MCP server”.
- Look up how Stripe Checkout handles a subscription with a trial, then implement it in this route using our sandbox.
- Read the last five failed PaymentIntents in the sandbox and tell me why our webhook handler missed them.
- Search Stripe’s docs for the right way to handle idempotency in this refund job and update the code.
Connect Stripe
- In VS Code, open Andromity Hub → MCP Servers → Discover. In the terminal app, open /settings → MCP → + Connect an app. Find Stripe and select Connect.
- Sign in with Stripe. Grant access to a sandbox while you develop, and to live accounts only if you need them.
- Andromity saves Stripe to ~/.andromity/mcp.json and connects it.
See Connect an app for how Andromity stores connectors and tokens.
Access and safety
- Stripe asks you to keep your client’s tool approvals on and to be careful when combining it with other MCP servers, because of prompt injection.
- Some write actions, such as refunds and outbound payments, need approval at a Stripe Dashboard URL. The approval expires after 24 hours; after approving, ask the agent to retry.
- You can revoke the connection in the Stripe Dashboard under user settings → OAuth sessions. Admins can enable or disable MCP access for the team separately for live mode and sandboxes.
In an untrusted folder, MCP servers don’t start at all. Read workspace trust and permission modes for the full model.
Limits to know
- Several tools are in preview.
- Managed networks may need to allow mcp.stripe.com.
Questions
- Can the agent move money in Stripe?
- Write tools exist, so only grant live-mode access if you need it. Stripe requires Dashboard approval for some write actions such as refunds, and Andromity’s SAFE mode asks before every tool call.
- Should I connect a sandbox or a live account?
- Use a sandbox while you build. Stripe’s consent page lets you grant sandboxes and live accounts separately, with different permissions.
