GOOGLE CALENDAR MCP SERVER
Connect Google Calendar to Andromity with the Google Calendar MCP server
Connect Google's official Calendar MCP server to Andromity: let your AI coding agent check your schedule, find free time and create or update events. Developer Preview.

Google hosts an official Google Calendar MCP server at https://calendarmcp.googleapis.com/mcp/v1. With it, Andromity can look at your calendars and events, suggest meeting times, and create, update or respond to events while you work.
The server is part of the Google Workspace MCP servers, which Google labels Developer Preview. Sign-in uses your own Google Cloud OAuth client, so setup takes a few extra steps in Google Cloud before you connect.
What the agent can do with Google Calendar
- List your calendars (list_calendars).
- List and search events (list_events, search_events) and read one event (get_event).
- Suggest meeting times (suggest_time).
- Create, update and delete events (create_event, update_event, delete_event).
- Respond to event invitations (respond_to_event).
Example prompts
Ask for the work in plain language. Naming the server helps, for example “use the Google Calendar MCP server”.
- Check my calendar for tomorrow and tell me how much uninterrupted time I have to finish this migration.
- Find a 30-minute slot this week and create an event called 'Review auth refactor' for it.
- List my events for Friday and tell me whether any of them conflict with the release window in docs/release.md.
- Search my calendar for the next on-call handover and add a note about the open incident to the event.
Connect Google Calendar
- Join the Google Workspace Developer Preview Program, which Google requires for its Workspace MCP servers.
- In a Google Cloud project, enable the Google Calendar API and the Google Calendar MCP API (calendarmcp.googleapis.com).
- Configure the OAuth consent screen. For an External user type, add yourself as a test user. Add the Calendar scopes Google lists: calendar.calendarlist.readonly, calendar.events.freebusy and calendar.events.readonly.
- Create an OAuth client of type Web application, select 'Use this client for an AI-powered agent', and add the redirect URI http://127.0.0.1:54321/callback.
- In VS Code, open Andromity Hub → MCP Servers → Discover. In the terminal app, open /settings → MCP → + Connect an app. Find Google Calendar and select Connect.
- Enter the client ID and secret, then sign in with Google in your browser. Andromity requests offline access so sign-in refreshes.
See Connect an app for how Andromity stores connectors and tokens.
Access and safety
- The agent acts with the permissions of the Google account you sign in with.
- Google warns about prompt injection: untrusted events or other content can steer an AI session. Google recommends using only trusted tools and reviewing every action the AI takes.
- Andromity's permission modes apply to every Calendar tool call. In TRUST mode, tools such as create_event, update_event and delete_event ask first.
In an untrusted folder, MCP servers don’t start at all. Read workspace trust and permission modes for the full model.
Limits to know
- Developer Preview: Google may change the server, and Workspace Developer Preview membership is required.
- Google's page lists read-only and free/busy scopes but also lists tools that create, update and delete events, and does not explain how writes are authorized. Check what your sign-in grants.
- Google states that from November 11, 2026, Workspace MCP servers will reject OAuth clients that are not marked 'Use this client for an AI-powered agent'.
Questions
- Does Google Calendar have an official MCP server?
- Yes. Google hosts one at https://calendarmcp.googleapis.com/mcp/v1 as part of its Workspace MCP servers, currently in Developer Preview.
- Do I need my own OAuth client to connect Google Calendar to Andromity?
- Yes. Google's Workspace MCP servers use OAuth 2.0 with a client you create in Google Cloud. Andromity asks for the client ID and secret when you connect.
- Why does Google ask me to sign in every hour?
- Google says this happens when the client does not get a refresh token, and recommends adding access_type=offline to the authorization request. Andromity requests offline access.
