The short version
The Andromity website uses two essential items: one cookie that remembers your privacy choice and one browser storage entry that remembers your theme. We do not use advertising, cross-site tracking, or social media cookies.
Optional analytics is off by default. If you accept it, we measure page views and clicks on install links without saving any identifier in your browser. You can change your choice whenever you like: .
What we use
| Name | Type | Purpose | Category | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|---|
andromity_consent | First-party cookie | Stores your privacy choice, the policy version it applies to, and when you made it. Contains no personal data. | Essential | 180 days |
andromity-theme | Browser local storage | Remembers whether you chose the light or dark theme. Written only when you change the theme. | Essential | Until you clear it |
| PostHog analytics | None saved | Counts page views and install-link clicks. Its temporary identifiers exist only in the page’s memory and are discarded when you close or reload the page. | Analytics (requires consent) | Current page visit |
Essential items are needed to provide the site you asked for and to honor your choices, so they do not require consent. We do not set any other cookies.
Analytics in detail
When you accept analytics, the site loads PostHog’s analytics library and sends these events to PostHog’s United States servers: a page view, a click on a VS Code Marketplace install link (with where on the page it was), a copy of an install command, and the opening of a GitHub draft from the “Built with Andromity” form (with whether the project is open or closed source).
We turned off automatic click capture, session recording, error capture, surveys, feature flags, and user profiles. Page addresses are sent without query strings or fragments. Nothing you type into a form is sent. Because no identifier is written to your cookies or local storage, a new visit looks like a new anonymous visitor.
Until you accept, the analytics library is not even downloaded and nothing is sent to PostHog. See the Privacy Policy for the full picture.
Your choices
- Cookie settings. (also in the footer of every page) to accept or reject analytics. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it and takes effect immediately.
- Browser signals. If your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, we treat that as a rejection of analytics, do not show the consent prompt, and do not enable analytics.
- Browser settings. You can delete or block cookies and local storage in your browser. If you delete the consent cookie, we will ask again. Blocking it means we cannot remember your choice, so we will ask on each visit. Blocking local storage only means the theme will not be remembered.
We ask for your choice again about every 180 days, and whenever this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect.
Third-party sites
Links to GitHub, the Visual Studio Code Marketplace, Discord, and other sites take you away from this website. Those services set their own cookies under their own policies, and nothing here covers them. Opening a link does not give them any analytics data from us.
Changes and contact
We will update this page when the cookies or storage we use change, and revise the date at the top. For questions, see the contact details in the Privacy Policy.
