Install and configure the open-source Andromity coding agent for VS Code and terminal, with BYOK providers, local Ollama models, and workspace trust.
Andromity is an open-source AI coding agent for VS Code and terminal. It can plan repository tasks, edit files, and run commands using the model and execution permissions you choose.

Work in VS Code or terminal
The VS Code extension runs in the secondary sidebar alongside your editor, file explorer, and terminal. Proposed plans, execution traces, and native diffs help you follow a task and review the changes. The terminal runtime provides a chat workspace and slash commands for model selection, profiles, sessions, and other controls.
Follow the VS Code first-task guide or consult the terminal command reference.
Choose how model requests run
Use a direct provider with your own API key, the Andromity gateway route, or a local Ollama endpoint. Cloud providers receive the request context needed for inference and apply their own usage and data policies. The edge gateway forwards requests without persisting source code, prompts, or completions. Local inference runs at your configured Ollama endpoint.
See provider setup, local Ollama configuration, and edge gateway architecture for the differences between routes.
Review permissions before execution
Folder trust is resolved before execution permissions. An untrusted folder blocks repository tool reads, writes, and command execution. Profiles constrain the available tools, and permission modes determine how authorized actions are approved. Read the security reference before enabling unattended work.
