Personalisation
Customise how Andromity looks in VS Code. Turn the Andro-Pet companion on or off and set up the ambient wallpaper, water ripples, floating particles and cursor spotlight.
Open Settings → Personalisation, or type /personalisation in chat. These options only change how the chat looks; they don't affect what the agent does.
Andro-Pet
A small pixel-art companion that sits on the prompt box, hops between chat turns, and reacts while the agent thinks and runs tools. Click it to play with it.
| In chat | What it does |
|---|---|
/pet | Shows the pet if it's hidden, or hides it if it's showing |
/play | The pet does a trick |
/fetch | Brings the pet back to the prompt box |
To turn it off, clear Enable Mascot Companion or type /pet while it's showing.
Stored in andromity.mascotEnabled. Default: on.
Ambient wallpaper
An animated backdrop behind the chat, using the bundled Wildcat Panther Dusk artwork. Turn on Enable Ambient Wallpaper to use it; it is off by default because it can use more battery on laptops.
| Option | Choices | Setting | Default |
|---|---|---|---|
| Enable Ambient Wallpaper | On or off | andromity.wallpaper.enabled | Off |
| Water Ripple Wave Dynamics: ripples that follow your mouse | Off, Light, Medium, Strong | andromity.wallpaper.rippleIntensity | Medium |
| Floating Asterisk Particles: glyphs that drift and move away from the cursor | On or off | andromity.wallpaper.floatingAsterisks | On |
| Cursor Radial Spotlight: a soft light that follows the cursor | On or off | andromity.wallpaper.cursorLightAura | On |
Setting ripples to Off stops the ripple simulation entirely, which is the lightest option if you want the artwork without the animation.
Reduced motion
If your operating system is set to reduce motion, Andromity turns off ripples and floating particles whatever these settings say. The artwork and spotlight still show if they're on.
Settings sync
All of these are ordinary VS Code user settings, so VS Code Settings Sync carries them to your other machines. You can also set them in settings.json:
{
"andromity.mascotEnabled": false,
"andromity.wallpaper.enabled": true,
"andromity.wallpaper.rippleIntensity": "light",
"andromity.wallpaper.floatingAsterisks": false,
"andromity.wallpaper.cursorLightAura": true
}For theme colours, Andromity follows your VS Code colour theme. For the agent's behaviour, see Preferences.
Preferences
