RAILWAY MCP SERVER
Connect Railway to Andromity with the Railway MCP server
Connect Railway's official MCP server to Andromity: let your AI coding agent list projects and services, redeploy, and manage feature flags without leaving the editor.

Railway hosts an MCP server at mcp.railway.com. With it, Andromity can list your projects and services, trigger a redeploy, accept a pending deploy, and ask Railway's own agent for help.
Editors that support OAuth connect to the server directly. Tokens are short-lived and can be revoked in your Railway account settings.
What the agent can do with Railway
- See which account you are signed in as (whoami).
- List projects and services, and create projects (list-projects, list-services, create-project).
- Redeploy a service (redeploy).
- Accept a pending deploy (accept-deploy).
- Read, set and delete feature flags (list-feature-flags, get-feature-flag, set-feature-flag, delete-feature-flag).
- Ask Railway's agent a question or give it a task (railway-agent).
Example prompts
Ask for the work in plain language. Naming the server helps, for example “use the Railway MCP server”.
- List my Railway projects and services and tell me which service this repository deploys to.
- I just merged the config fix. Redeploy the api service in the staging project.
- Check the feature flags for this project and tell me which ones the code in src/flags no longer references.
- Create a new Railway project called billing-sandbox for this repository.
Connect Railway
- In VS Code, open Andromity Hub → MCP Servers → Discover. In the terminal app, open /settings → MCP → + Connect an app. Find Railway and select Connect.
- Sign in to Railway and approve the connection in your browser.
- Andromity saves Railway to ~/.andromity/mcp.json and connects it.
See Connect an app for how Andromity stores connectors and tokens.
Access and safety
- The agent acts as your Railway user. Railway does not accept project tokens because the server needs a user identity for billing and audit trails.
- Railway advises reviewing actions the model requests before approving them, especially destructive ones such as redeploy, accept-deploy and railway-agent, and using the server on non-critical environments where possible.
- set-feature-flag and delete-feature-flag are admin-level actions.
- Andromity's permission modes apply to every Railway tool call.
In an untrusted folder, MCP servers don’t start at all. Read workspace trust and permission modes for the full model.
Limits to know
- The remote server has a smaller tool set than Railway's local server (railway mcp local), which is a separate option for machines that cannot reach mcp.railway.com.
- Railway marks destructive actions at the protocol level, but the client must honor those hints to ask for confirmation.
Questions
- Does Railway have an official MCP server?
- Yes. Railway documents a hosted server at mcp.railway.com, plus a CLI-based option through railway mcp.
- Can the agent deploy to Railway?
- It can redeploy a service and accept a pending deploy. Railway's docs list no tool for uploading new code.
- Can I use a Railway project token?
- No. Railway says project tokens are not accepted, since the server requires a user identity.
