NOTION MCP SERVER
Connect Notion to Andromity with the Notion MCP server
Connect Notion’s official MCP server to Andromity in one click. Let your AI coding agent search specs, read pages and databases, and write docs and comments. Setup, plans and limits.

Notion hosts an official MCP server at https://mcp.notion.com/mcp. Connected to Andromity, it gives the coding agent access to the specs, runbooks and task databases your team keeps in Notion, so it can read the requirements before it writes code and update the docs afterwards.
You sign in with Notion in your browser. Notion’s hosted server only supports this OAuth sign-in, and the agent can reach only the pages your Notion account can access in the workspace you choose.
What the agent can do with Notion
- Search the workspace and fetch pages, databases and views by URL or ID (notion-search, notion-fetch).
- Create, update, move and duplicate pages.
- Create databases and views, and query data sources with SQL or a saved view.
- Read and add comments.
- Move pages and databases to Trash and restore them.
- Look up teams, users and groups in the workspace.
Example prompts
Ask for the work in plain language. Naming the server helps, for example “use the Notion MCP server”.
- Find the “Checkout v2” spec in Notion and list the acceptance criteria this branch doesn’t meet yet.
- Read the API conventions page in Notion and check this new endpoint against it.
- Write a Notion page in the Engineering docs that explains the migration in this pull request.
- Query the Bugs database for open issues tagged “payments” and suggest which one this commit fixes.
Connect Notion
- In VS Code, open Andromity Hub → MCP Servers → Discover. In the terminal app, open /settings → MCP → + Connect an app. Find Notion and select Connect.
- Your browser opens Notion. Choose the workspace and approve the connection.
- Andromity saves Notion to ~/.andromity/mcp.json and connects. The server card shows its tools once it is running.
See Connect an app for how Andromity stores connectors and tokens.
Access and safety
- The agent acts as you, inside the workspace you approved, and sees only what your Notion account can see.
- Workspace owners manage MCP client access in Notion under Settings → Connections.
- Deleting pages or databases needs explicit confirmation in the tool call, and Andromity’s permission modes still apply to every call.
In an untrusted folder, MCP servers don’t start at all. Read workspace trust and permission modes for the full model.
Limits to know
- Tool calls follow Notion’s standard API rate limits.
- Some tools need a Business or Enterprise plan with Notion AI, including AI search, meeting-notes queries and querying several data sources at once.
- Notion’s hosted server does not offer token-based (headless) sign-in.
Questions
- Is there an official Notion MCP server?
- Yes. Notion hosts one at https://mcp.notion.com/mcp, and Andromity connects to it with a browser sign-in.
- Can the agent see my whole Notion workspace?
- It can reach the pages and databases your Notion account can access in the workspace you approve during sign-in, and nothing outside it.
- Do I need a paid Notion plan?
- Most tools work on every plan. A few, such as AI search and meeting-notes queries, need Business or Enterprise with Notion AI.
