MIRO MCP SERVER

Connect Miro to Andromity with the Miro MCP server

Connect Miro's official MCP server to Andromity: let your AI coding agent read boards, create diagrams and board items from SVG, and reply to comments while it codes.

Miro hosts an official MCP server at https://mcp.miro.com. With it, Andromity can search your boards, read what is on a board, build diagrams and layouts, and work through comments while you code.

Sign-in uses OAuth 2.1 with dynamic client registration, so connecting is a single browser sign-in.

What the agent can do with Miro

  • Search the boards you can access (board_search_boards) and create boards (board_create).
  • Read board items as SVG (canvas_read_as_svg).
  • Create board items from an SVG document (canvas_create_from_svg) and apply SVG changes as a diff (canvas_update_from_svg).
  • List, reply to and resolve comment threads (comment_list_comments, comment_reply, comment_resolve).
  • Work with images (image_create, image_get_url, image_get_data).
  • Read and create prototypes from board screens (prototype_read, prototype_create).

Example prompts

Ask for the work in plain language. Naming the server helps, for example “use the Miro MCP server”.

  • Find the board named 'Checkout redesign', read the flow diagram and implement the screens it describes.
  • Read the architecture diagram on our 'Platform' board and tell me where the code in this repo differs from it.
  • Create a diagram of the request flow in src/gateway on a new Miro board.
  • List the unresolved comments on the 'API v2' board and tell me which ones this diff addresses.

Connect Miro

  1. On an Enterprise plan, ask an admin to enable the MCP server first: Admin settings → Apps & Integrations → MCP. Miro says it is disabled by default there.
  2. In VS Code, open Andromity Hub → MCP Servers → Discover. In the terminal app, open /settings → MCP → + Connect an app. Find Miro and select Connect.
  3. Approve the connection in your browser, while viewing a board in the team you want to use.
  4. Andromity saves Miro to ~/.andromity/mcp.json and connects it.

See Connect an app for how Andromity stores connectors and tokens.

Access and safety

  • The agent can only see and act on boards the signed-in user can already access. Miro checks your current permissions on each request.
  • Enterprise admins can enable MCP for the whole organization or only for selected teams. Board-level permissions still apply.
  • Andromity's permission modes apply to every Miro tool call.

In an untrusted folder, MCP servers don’t start at all. Read workspace trust and permission modes for the full model.

Limits to know

  • The connection is one team at a time across all clients. Authorizing another team or client replaces the previous connection, and requests for boards in the old team return an error.
  • Miro says standard API rate limiting applies and documents specifics on its MCP usage and daily limits page.
  • The older board_list_items, context_*, layout_*, diagram_* and doc_* tools were removed in favor of the canvas tools. The table tools are marked as deprecating soon.

Questions

Does Miro have an official MCP server?
Yes. Miro hosts one at https://mcp.miro.com that works with OAuth 2.1 and supports all Miro plans.
Which Miro plans work with the MCP server?
Miro says it works for all plans, including free teams. On Enterprise plans an admin must enable it first.
Can the agent see all my Miro boards?
No. It can only see boards your own account can access, and Miro checks your permissions on each request.
